BOSTON - The University at Albany track and field's
Steve Hines has been named the Track Athlete of the Week by the America East Conference, announced Tuesday.
A native of Montego Bay, Jamaica,
Steve Hines competed in both the 800m and the 1500m at the USF Alumni Invitational. Excelling in the 800m, he led a group of four UAlbany runners with a personal record and a fourth-place finish. His time, 1:49.46, is ranked sixth in program history. After a full weekend of competition across the nation, Hines was ranked eighth in the NCAA, sixth in the Northeast, and first in the America East with his 800m race.
This is the first weekly award for Hines and the men's outdoor track and field team this season.
The track and field programs will return to action on February 3 at the Pepsi Florida Relays and on February 4 at the UConn Dog Fight.
