Malek Named Defensive Player of the Week for Third Consecutive Week

BOSTON, Mass. - UAlbany volleyball's Brooke Malek has been named the America East Defensive Player of the Week for the third straight week, announced Tuesday.

Malek totaled 64 digs across 11 sets at the Red Raider Classic for a 5.82 per set average, finished with a .971 reception percentage on 70 chances, and added two aces. Her weekend included 28 digs vs. Ole Miss, 22 at Texas Tech, and 14 against UIW.

Across the season, Malek leads the America East in digs per set at 4.67 and total digs with 201. UAlbany leads the league in team digs per set at 15.09, and the Great Danes rank second in the conference in fewest opponent service aces allowed at 1.58 per set, reflecting a strong serve-receive anchored by Malek.
