ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany football team is set to host its annual Hometown Heroes game this year against Stony Brook University on Saturday, Oct. 4. Local Hometown Heroes can have their name, or a loved one's name who has served in the military or as a first responder, displayed on the back of a UAlbany football player's helmet with a special decal.

Tribute helmet requests are available to purchase for $10. The purchase includes the customized helmet plate being mailed back after the game, in addition to a ticket being donated to a local Hometown Hero. The 2025 matchup will mark the 12
th consecutive season the Great Danes have honored military members and recognized the family of Army Lt. Col. Todd J. Clark, a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, who was killed in action in Afghanistan. Additionally, for the sixth consecutive season, the program will show its appreciation for the Capital Region's police, firefighters, paramedics, and local healthcare workers.
