SHORT STORY: The Great Danes fought heat, rain, and wind at the three-day Penn Relays.
KEY NOTES
- A quarter of a second away from breaking the program record, the men's 4x100m highlighted the weekend beating defending champion Houston to win their heat and auto qualify for the finals.
- Shavar Staats Jr. followed it up with a heat-win in the 100m dash to make it to finals for a sixth-place finish overall.
- The women's 4x100m relay just qualified for the finals with a second-place finish in their heat. Combining on Saturday, the women improved their finish to seventh-place overall.
- Louis Gordon added a runner-up finish in the long jump (championship) with a 7.52-meter jump.
- Both the men's and women's 4x100m relays teams made history this year. It was the first time both relays qualified for the Championship of America finals. Time wise, it was the first time the men's team went sub-40 seconds and the first time the women's team went sub-45 seconds in their respective first-round race.
