ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany men's track and field's
Jed Elmbarki was named the Track Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday.

Jed Elmbarki competed in two events at the 130th Penn Relays Carnival (Apr. 23-25). He started his week with a personal record in the 3000m steeplechase (8:51.19). Just three seconds away from the UAlbany program record, he is currently ranked 36th in the NCAA East with the conference's best time. He also ran with UAlbany's DMR team to a sixth-place finish in the college section.
This is the first weekly award for Elmbarki this outdoor season. As a team, the men have totaled six weekly awards during the outdoor season.
The track and field programs will return to action at the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 9-10.
