COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Two Great Danes have been named All-Northeast Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
 
Senior Sophia Schoonmaker and junior Pilar Lorenzini earned a Second Team All-Region nod.
 
Hailing from Marbletown, N.Y., Schoonmaker caps off her career with the all-region honor after starting nearly every game in her collegiate career. During the 2025 season, she was one of three captains and played as both a forward and a midfielder. The UAlbany standout, she was essential before several goals, creating plays for her fellow teammates. Able to finish a few times, she totaled one goal and three assists as one of just five field players with over 1000 minutes played in the regular season.
 
Pilar Lorenzini opened her first competition season with UAlbany scoring six goals in three games with her first career hat trick. The Mendoza, Argentina native led the team in goals and points since that game. Having started all 19 games for the Great Danes, Lorenzini finished the season fourth in the conference in both goals per game (.632) and points per game (1.32). Throughout the season, she totaled four multi-goal games while backing a defense that has allowed just 1.33 goals per game with five shutouts and five additional games having only allowed one goal.

UAlbany finished 12-7 on the season and ended the season in the America East semifinal contest after earning the third seed in the tournament.
 
The Division I All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the NFHCA over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on December 11. This announcement will be followed by the NFHCA All-American Teams (December 16) and the National Player of the Year (December 18).
