ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany women's lacrosse program has announced the promotion of
Taylor Frink to Associate Head Coach.
Â
Â
Since returning to her alma mater as an assistant coach in 2016, Frink has continued to build upon that legacy. She has played a key role in guiding the Great Danes to the America East Championship game every year since her return (2016–2025) and securing NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017, 2023 and 2025. Her leadership, offensive expertise, and player development have been instrumental in establishing UAlbany as a premier Northeast program.
Â
"Being a Great Dane means family at our core, trust in our process, and belief in each other," Frink said. "I've been deeply impacted by every coach, player, and staff member I've had the privilege to work with, and I'm truly grateful for each day I get to represent this program. Danes All Day!"
Â
A decorated UAlbany student-athlete from 2008 to 2011, Frink's legacy is foundational to the program's current success. As a player, she helped lead the Great Danes to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011, earning IWLCA All-America Second Team and All-America East First Team honors. Frink was also a Tewaaraton Award nominee and graduated among UAlbany's all-time leaders in points and assists.
Â
"Taylor embodies what it means to be a Great Dane," said head coach
Katie Thomson. "Her commitment, leadership, and deep understanding of the game have made a tremendous impact on our student-athletes and the culture of this program. This promotion is a reflection of her hard work and the respect she's earned from everyone around her."
Â
Frink's influence extends well beyond the Capital Region as a proud Haudenosaunee and international ambassador for the game. She recently made history when she was named Head Coach of the Haudenosaunee Nationals Women's Team for the 2025 PALA Women's Lacrosse Championship in Orlando, Florida. Under her leadership, the team achieved a medal finish—a milestone moment for the program.
Â
Her appointment marked a series of historic firsts for the Haudenosaunee Nationals program:
Â
- First female UAlbany alum of the Haudenosaunee Nationals to serve as Head Coach.
- First Indigenous Head Coach of the Haudenosaunee Women's National Field Team.
- First Head Coach to lead the Women's National Field Team to a medal finish.
Â
Frink also served as an assistant coach for the Haudenosaunee U19 Women's National Team during the 2019 World Championships in Peterborough, Canada, alongside Thomson.
