ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women's golf team is ready to start the 2024-25 season with a trip to the Bucknell Invitational this weekend. The tournament is set to last from Friday to Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.

Leading the Pack
- The Great Danes are coming off the program's fourth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, won last spring in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
- UAlbany was awarded the MAAC's automatic bid and competed in the NCAA Auburn Regional.
- Lucia Esteban led the squad at the MAAC Championship, finishing in a tie for second place. The sophomore didn't leave the top three of the leaderboard the entire weekend. She followed up her championship performance by leading the team in all three rounds at the Auburn Regional, finishing in 43rd place.
- In addition to Esteban, returning for the Great Danes in 2024-25 is Thantita Aungsuseewong and Nicole Criscone.
- Newcomers to the team include sophomore Callie Taylor and freshmen Madison Kuratani, Mia Cepeda, and Jessica Brown.

"We are very excited to play at Bucknell for many reasons. Personally, in my 11 years, I have actually never been to this tournament, so it's thrilling to see a new course, a new campus and a new city. That doesn't happen very often for me anymore up in the Northeast. Also, I think our lineup is very dynamic. With two returning Juniors and three new players qualifying to be in the starting lineup, we are looking for big things right out of the gate. I think we are capable of a top-three finish, if not a 'W' on Sunday. This tournament date is earlier than we have started playing in many years, but I figured, let's not wait around and qualify every day. They have been playing golf all summer, so why not just throw them into the fire! I think they are ready to play! We are definitely looking forward to a great week!"
