Short Story: The University at Albany women's golf team finished third at its home tournament, the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational at Normanside Country Club. Thantita Aungsuseewong led the team with rounds of 71 and 76 for a fourth place finish.
Head Coach Colleen Cashman: "Running a tournament is a big undertaking. Doing it with bad weather in the forecast is challenging. Pivoting on the final round to ensure you get 36 full holes in and completed is rewarding. We couldn't have done it without the help of the Normanside staff, all my support staff, and so many volunteers that never cancelled and braved this "Nor'easter" weather today. I'm so happy we got it in! While it's disappointing to not bring home a trophy after all the hard work and preparation the team put in leading up to this event, I know the conditions were difficult today and I'm sure they all tried their hardest. When you have nine talented players on the team, it's hard to foresee which top five will play their best week in and week out. But it's definitely nice to see we have a solid core at the top of our line-up with Prime, Callie and Mia. They have been reliable and consistent all season and that's exactly what I'm looking for! With one last event next weekend, we are looking to bring home the trophy to end our fall season! Excited overall though to have our second annual Invitational in the books now!"
