BOSTON - The University at Albany women's basketball's Deja Evans was named the America East Rookie of the Week, announced Monday.
 
A native of Conshohocken, Pa., Evans continues to make strides in her basketball game to help the Great Danes in conference action. Averaging 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, the freshman tallied a career-high five assists in a win over UMBC (2.3). 
 
The team's eighth weekly award, this is Evans' fifth of the season. Her award is preceded by a mixture of the conference's weekly awards: Rookie of the Week (Deja Evans - 12.18, 1.2, & 1.29) & Player of the Week (Cooper - 12.11 & 1.22; Evans - 1.2).
 
The Great Danes will continue at home by hosting their annual Commitment to Education game on Thursday (2.8) at 11 am.
