ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany women's golf team is on the road for an invitational hosted by Monmouth University.
The Hawk Invitational will take place at the Eagle Ridge Club on Saturday, October 14, and Sunday, October 15. The tee times will begin at 11:30 am. The Hawks will be hosting four teams - UAlbany, Hofstra, Le Moyne, and Wagner. The teams will play one round on Saturday and conclude with a final round on Sunday.
GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened the fall with the Crosstown Challenge (Sept. 10).
- Senior Malene Clausen led the Great Danes with a single-round score of three above par.
- Seniors Mariel Tee and Katelin Richards and junior Claudia Blöchliger followed with scores under 80.
- As a team, UAlbany beat Siena with a double-digit stroke margin at the season-opening matchup.
- In their first invitational of the year, the Great Danes finished ninth at the Princeton Invitational (Sept. 16-17).
- Improving with each round, UAlbany totaled 26 birdies with round scores of 310-305-302.
- Tee led the way with a top-20 finish (+9) while her fellow classmates, Richards and Clausen, followed with their +15 and +20 stroke counts, respectively.
- In the most recent invitational, the Red Bandanna Intercollegiate (Sept. 25-26), Clausen earned a top-25 finish. The senior golfer led off with an even par in the first round.
- As a team, the Great Danes finished 11th with a 939 total score.
- The Great Danes rolled in 21 birdies with round scores of 308-315-316.
- Once again led by the seniors, Richards and Tee rounded out the top-three UAlbany scores. Richards totaled 234 strokes, including a team-low 76 in the final round, to tie for 30th. Tee came in 35th with just one additional stroke.
NEXT: After this invitational, the Great Danes will head to Pennsylvania for their final fall competition - the Lehigh Invitational (Oct. 23-24).
