BOSTON - The University at Albany women's basketball team has been picked fifth in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced Wednesday.
The Great Danes earned 51 points to land in fifth, one year after being picked fourth. Stony Brook drew 78 points (six first-place votes) to earn the favorite over Maine with 74 points (three first-place votes). After three straight seasons with Maine picked first, the Seawolves have taken the top pick.
Just ahead of UAlbany was UMass Lowell, drawing 63 points and one first-place vote, and Vermont, tallying 54 points.
Behind the Great Danes came Binghamton (40), New Hampshire (38), and NJIT (25) with their respective points. Rounding out the poll was UMBC (16 points) and Hartford (11 points).
