BOSTON – University at Albany freshman Saad Faiz has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.  He was named alongside Offensive Player Alex Nagy from Vermont, and Defensive Player Quantrell Jones from UMBC.
 
Faiz, a forward from Casablanca, Morocco, earns his first career America East weekly award.  He scored the Great Danes' game-winning goal last week against UMass Lowell to knock off the visiting River Hawks 2-1.  It was his first goal of his UAlbany career.
 
Faiz joins Carlos Tofern as the only Great Danes to earn a conference award this season.
 
UAlbany plays its final non-conference opponent of the 2021 regular season, at Colgate, on Tuesday, October 19.
