Claxton Named Puerto Rico Outstanding Female Track Athlete

SAN JUAN – For the second time in her career, University at Albany alumna Grace Claxton has been named Puerto Rico Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year.  Claxton last earned the award in 2017.

Since graduating from UAlbany, where she was a two-time All-American and 2016 Olympic semifinalist, Claxton has continued her international career competing for her native Puerto Rico.  This season, Claxton just missed qualifying for the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in her signature event, the 400m hurdles.  She recorded season bests of 53.12 in the 400m and 56.04 in the 400m hurdles, placing sixth at the Pan American Games with the latter performance.  She now has her sights set on a run at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Claxton will receive her award on December 21 from the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee.
