BOSTON – University at Albany men's soccer forward Austin DaSilva has been named 2019 America East Striker of the Year, the conference offices announced Monday.
The honor marks the first time in four years a Great Dane has received the major award since Afonso Pinheiro earned it after his 2015 campaign.
DaSilva, a sophomore forward from Brookfield, Connecticut got his Great Dane career off to a stellar start after transferring over from UConn. The sophomore finished the 2019 season earning a spot on the All-Conference First Team after leading the team and America East in goals (12) and points (25). Half of DaSilva's goals were game-winners, which ranked first nationally. The Brookfield, Connecticut native also tallied three two-goal games the season, two of which were highlighted in back-to-back wins against Hofstra and UMass Lowell.
The sophomore also entered the program's record book, ranking second all-time in the Division I era in goals and fourth in points in a single season.
