Quote

Interim head coach Jessica Davos: “Outstanding effort by the entire team. We set a game plan, and our kids followed it to a 'T.' It was our best game of the season on the defensive end, and we executed our opportunities on the attack. We played for a full 60 minutes, and I'm incredibly proud of the resolve of this young group.”

Recap

UAlbany, which was hosting Notre Dame for the first time in any sport, led the Irish for the final 39 minutes, 29 seconds of the game.

Rickert added an assist for her third-career five-point game. Her afternoon included a highlight-reel, behind-the-back goal that gave UAlbany a three-goal lead in the second half.

Sam Tortora also had four points (two goals, two assists).

UAlbany scored first when Tortora connected on a free-position shot for a 1-0 lead 3:22 into the game. After Notre Dame, of the Atlantic Coast Conference, scored twice, Tortora fed Rickert for her first goal, tying the game at 2.

The Irish regained the lead, 3-2, but UAlbany answered with a four goal-spurt. Rickert's two goals bookended one each from Powlin and Harbinger, giving the Great Danes a 6-3 lead at halftime.

In the second half, with UAlbany leading 6-4, Rickert accepted a feed from Tortora in front of the cage, spun and scored from her backhand, putting UAlbany by three again with 22:02 left.

Notre Dame cut the lead to two twice more, but goals from Harbinger and Tortora answered on each occasion.
