Tim Cox Rejoins UAlbany Men's Lacrosse as a Volunteer Assistant Coach

ALBANY, N.Y. – Former standout Great Dane midfielder and Schenectady native Tim Cox has returned to the UAlbany men's lacrosse team as a volunteer assistant coach under Scott Marr for the 2016 season.
“I've grown so much over the last four years as a player and a person under Coach Marr and the coaching staff at UAlbany,” said Cox. “It is an honor to be able to return now as a part of the staff and learn under the UAlbany coaches as I start my coaching career.”
“We welcome the newest Great Dane to the coaching family,” said Marr. “He has been a great leader for the Division I lacrosse program. We are happy to help Tim from one phase of his career to the next, going from team captain to coach.”
Cox, a former standout high school lacrosse and football player to earn Schenectady High School Athlete of the Year in the 2010-11 season, served as a midfielder for the Great Danes from 2012-15, leading UAlbany to three America East Tournament titles and a pair of NCAA Tournament victories.
An America East All-Conference Second Team player and team captain in 2015, Cox finished his career with 40 goals and 12 assists for 52 points, adding 55 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers. In his final season, he scored at least one point in 16 of UAlbany's 19 games.
Cox graduated from UAlbany in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in communications with a minor in business.
Cox joins the coaching staff of Marr, associate head coach Liam Gleason, assistant coach Merrick Thomson and director of lacrosse operations Donald Shea.
