ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany men's lacrosse standout Silas Richmond has officially taken the next step in his historic career, as he was selected by the Philadelphia Waterdogs with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Draft. Richmond becomes the latest Great Dane to join the professional ranks, following Jake Piseno in 2024, continuing the program's storied tradition of producing elite talent for the professional stage.
 
A native of Delta, British Columbia, Richmond's tenure at UAlbany has been defined by championship excellence and consistent postseason success. Throughout his career, he has helped lead the Great Danes to three America East Title game appearances, ultimately securing two America East conference titles. His impact extended deep into May, where he played a pivotal role in guiding the team to two NCAA Tournament Opening Round victories, including wins over Sacred Heart in 2024 and Siena in 2025.
 
Richmond enters the professional ranks as one of the most prolific scorers in program history. The defending America East Offensive Player of the Year, he has maintained his status as one of the premier threats in college lacrosse, currently sitting second nationally in points per game. Over the course of his decorated career, he has surpassed 150 goals and 100 assists, cementing his place in the top 10 of the UAlbany record books for career points, assists, and goals. By reaching these milestones, he joins the ranks of legendary Great Danes such as Lyle and Miles Thompson, Connor Fields, Frank Resetarits, and Merrick Thomson, among others.

By joining the Waterdogs, Richmond joins a prestigious list of former Great Danes who have made the transition to the PLL, further reinforcing UAlbany's reputation as a premier destination for developing professional-caliber talent.
