21-Point Performance Propels Imani Tate to America East Co-Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After leading UAlbany to victory over Canisius on Wednesday, Imani Tate has be named the America East Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

This is Tate's first weekly league honor of her collegiate career.  UAlbany has two this season, with Shereesha Richards earning Player of the Week in the opening week of the year.

On Wednesday, the sophomore guard came off the bench and went 9-for-10 from the field, earning game-highs 21 points, six rebounds and three steals.  Her 21 points was one shy of her career-high at UAlbany.

Including 17 points in the second half, Tate led the Great Danes to victory at Canisius on Wednesday 64-59.  It is UAlbany's third-straight road win over a New York-based team.

Tate shared the weekly honor with Liz Wood of Maine.

Tate and the Great Danes will play Hofstra tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the SEFCU Arena.
