ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany men's soccer (3-3-5, 1-0 AE) hits the road for a mid-week primetime match-up at No. 9 Syracuse (9-1, 3-1 ACC) on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast locally on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, as well as through ESPN3.

Now past the midpoint of the 2014 season, 10 different Great Danes have recorded at least one point. Afonso Pinheiro continues to lead the Purple & Gold in points (7) and goals (3).

ALLEN TAKES AMERICA EAST HONOR

Senior goalkeeper Tim Allen was named the America East Player of the Week on Monday. Allen made a career-high 11 saves in a 2-1 win against Vermont on Saturday. He also posted his second consecutive shutout in a 0-0 tie against St. Francis Brooklyn. The Australia native has posted a goals against average of 0.81 and a save percentage of .821 to date.

LAST TIME OUT

The Great Danes won their America East season opener for the first time since 2008 in a 2-1 home victory against Vermont. UAlbany took a 1-0 lead early in the second half on Keith Traut's first career goal. The Catamount equalizer came with 10 minutes left in regulation. Brandon Wilson converted on a Philip Persson service with six minutes left for the gamewinner.

Wilson has now tallied 25 points in his career, ranking sixth in UAlbany Division I program history in the category. His goal against Vermont was the first of the season for the senior midfielder. 

LAST WE MET

UAlbany was shut out by Syracuse last season at Bob Ford Field, 2-0. In his third career start, Eric Orologio made three saves between the posts in place of an injured Tim Allen. Both goal scorers for the Orange in Juuso Pasanen and Emil Ekblom return for the 2014 meeting.

The Orange garnered their top ranking in program history last week, coming in at No. 9. Goalkeeper Alex Bono boasts the best goals against average in the nation, having allowed just one goal in 10 games (011). The junior has nine shutouts to his credit in addition to a save percentage of .976.

On the offensive side, Syracuse has only scored three more goals on the year than UAlbany. Of their nine wins, six have been by a 1-0 decision, including Cuse's last four consecutive matches. The ninth-ranked team in the nation is taking nearly three times as many corner kicks per game than their opponents to date (9.9-3.7).

Ekblom leads the Orange in points (13) and goals (6). The sophomore was an NSCAA All-American in his freshman season. More importantly, the Norwegian has scored five gamewinners in 2014, including the goal to down Virginia Tech on Oct. 4 in double overtime.
