Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Centerfielder Jon Schwind drove in four runs on two hits to help lead Marist to an 11-2 win over UAlbany in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon.

            UAlbany got on the board first, scoring two runs in the first frame. Freshman Nolan Gaige drew a lead-off walk, then advanced and scored on back-to-back singles by Brian Bullard and Brendan Rowland. Pete Eichner drove in Bullard with a single into left center. Marist responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame, as Bryce Nugent and Schwind recorded consecutive base hits, driving in two runs. UAlbany was able to turn a double play later in the inning, but the Red Foxes were able to get their third run home on the play to take the one-run lead.

            Marist added two runs in the third, including an RBI groundout by Scwhind, while later adding a pair of runs in the sixth. Michael Gallic recorded an RBI double to score Nugent, while later coming home to add an unearned run on a single by Mark Stuckey. After the Red Foxes added three runs in the seventh, UAlbany managed to get runners in scoring position in both the eighth and the ninth frames, but Marist kept the Great Dane offense quiet to close out the win.

            Brett Houseal earned the win on the mound for Marist (20-11), striking out three in six innings of action. Nolan Gaige took the loss on the mound for the Great Danes after four innings of work. Eichner recorded two hits for UAlbany, while both Eichner and Rowland had a stolen base in the game.

            UAlbany (2-23) will return to action over the weekend, visiting Hartford in a three-game America East Conference series, starting with a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
