Albany, N.Y. ? Mike Brown went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead Le Moyne to a 7-3 non-conference victory over UAlbany on Tuesday afternoon at Varsity Field. The game was cut short after the seventh inning because of rain.
Le Moyne (28-17) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Second baseman Matt Nandin reached on a fielder's choice and was driven home on a double by shortstop Alejandro Del Valle. Stephen Crawford followed with a double of his own in the next at bat, and crossed home on an RBI single by Brown.
UAlbany (23-26) got on the board in the bottom of the third, as Steve Wyland knocked an RBI single to right field to score Brendan Rowland, who reached on an error by Le Moyne. After the Dolphins tacked on another run in the top of the fifth, UAlbany cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the frame.
Centerfielder Phil Marchese doubled down the left field line and was driven in on an RBI single up the middle by Al Barbato. Two batters later, catcher Tom Hill knocked a double of this won to send Barbato home.
Le Moyne was able to score three more runs in the top of the seventh frame, including a two-run homer over the left field fence by first baseman Ben Gaal.
Marchese finished with two hits for the Great Danes. Starter Marco Rivera picked up the loss on the mound, going two innings with one strikeout.
UAlbany, which wrapped up non-conference play with today's contest, will visit Vermont for a four-game America East Conference series starting on Friday.
