UALBANY WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO BOSTON U., 19-8, IN A-EAST CONFERENCE PLAY

Boston, Mass. - Junior midfielder Molly Collins recorded five goals and two assists to lead Boston U. to a 19-8 victory over UAlbany in America East Conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday, April 11.
     The Terriers rattled off five unanswered goals to start the game, with Collins scoring three of her tallies in that span. UAlbany's Kate Fontana and Christine Grueniger responded for the Great Danes, with Fontana breaking the scoring streak at 16:22 of the first half. Grueniger added her first goal of the day less than a minute later, slipping the ball past Boston U. goalkeeper Jenna Golden.
     Boston U. (6-5, AE 2-1) added two more goals in a 20-second span to build the lead to 7-2 with 13:24 left to play. After UAlbany's Kayla Best converted an unassisted shot at 13:01, the Terriers scored five straight to put the game out of reach. Grueniger was able to score one last time in the half for UAlbany, finding the back of the net with one second remaining on the clock to send the teams to halftime with Boston U. ahead 12-4.
     The Terriers came out firing in the second half, pouring in four unanswered goals before Grueniger found the back of the net for the third time at 17:04. Best scored her second of the day on a free position shot with 15:44 left to play. Boston U. would score three more times in the closing minutes, as Collins hit her second free position shot at 13:44 and assisted Xan Weitzel's goal at 9:46.
     Best completed her three-goal game on a free position attempt with just under two minutes remaining before Brittany Scott made the best of a free position opportunity at 1:32.
     Golden and Rachel Klein split time in the net for Boston U., with each making eight saves. Jen Daly and Katie Neer shared goalkeeper duties for UAlbany, with Daly stopping one shot and Neer making four saves.
     UAlbany (5-7, AE 1-2) will return to action on Saturday, April 14 as the team hosts Vermont in a 1 p.m. contest at John Fallon Field.
