Football Breaks Into FCS Top 25 Rankings

ALBANY, N.Y. -- With a 2-0 record, including the program's first FBS win and a key conference victory, the University at Albany football team moved into the STATS FCS Top 25 and the FCS Coaches Poll on Monday, ranking 25th in both polls. UAlbany was last ranked in the Top 25 on Oct. 27, 2014.

The Great Danes enter Week 3 with a 2-0 mark, topping Buffalo 22-16 to start the season and CAA foe Rhode Island 35-7 in Week 2.

As a team, UAlbany is tied for first in the nation for turnover margin (+6), as the defense has totaled an FCS-high six interceptions and two fumble recoveries. In addition, the Great Danes rank fifth for defensive passing efficiency (75.82) and ninth for scoring defense, holding opponents to 11.5 point per game.

Individually, sophomore running back Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks ranks second in the nation for rushing yards (282) and rushing touchdowns (4).
