Chris Kivlen

     Chris Kivlen is in his sixth season as an assistant coach. Kivlen, one of four captains on the 2005 UAlbany team, earned four varsity letters as a defenseman. He played on three America East Conference championship teams.
     In 2010, defenseman Brendan Gleason (first team) and Mark Kelly (second team) earned All-America East Conference honors.   A pair of UAlbany defensemen received all-conference recognition the previous season. UAlbany ranked 11th nationally in scoring defense at 7.69 goals per game in the 2008 campaign. Eleven opponents were held to less than 10 goals.
     A native of Huntington Station, N.Y., Kivlen was a 16-game starter on the 2005 UAlbany squad that made its third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. He had 19 ground balls and one assist as a senior.
     Kivlen earned his B.A. in communication with a minor in business administration in May 2005. He received all-league recognition on the scholastic level at Walt Whitman High.
