Mike Civitello

Mike Civitello is in his first year with the UAlbany football program as tight ends coach. He spent the previous three years as a member of the Colby College staff.

Civitello, who had a stellar career with the NCAA Division III program, coached Colby's special teams and defensive line, and served as junior varsity head coach. He recruiting in the areas of Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Florida and Georgia.

As a strong safety, Civitello led the Mules to three CBB championships. Colby tied for second in the NESCAC Conference in his senior season with a 6-2 record. Civitello was voted second-team all-conference after accounting for 51 tackles, two interceptions and three pass break-ups. He led a defense that tied for second among the national leaders in scoring defense at 8.1 points per game.

Civitello, 25, also had 54 tackles, three interceptions and five blocked kicks as a junior in helped the Mules post a 5-3 record. A native of Hamden, Conn. and a Notre Dame High School graduate, Civitello earned his B.A. in psychology.
