Collins, Gordon Compete in First NCAA Regionals

LOCATION: UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex - Lexington, Ky.
 
RESULTS: Long Jump | Hammer Throw
 
SHORT STORY: Thrower Keegan Collins and jumper Marissa Gordon opened the first day of women's competition at the NCAA East Prelims, Thursday.
 
KEY NOTES
  • Keegan Collins started the day early, throwing in the first flight at 10 am. Collins recorded her best mark of the day on her second of three attempts (55.66m), lifting her to 39th, two places higher than her initial overall ranking.
  • Marissa Gordon followed in the first flight of the long jump, contested at 6 pm. Gordon's best jump came on her second attempt - 5.88m. Following the completion of all four flights, she finished 33rd, an improvement on her 41st-ranked entry mark.
  • Both Collins and Gordon were both first-time NCAA East First Round competitors.

NEXT: Three Great Dane men will compete for a chance to participate in the national championship tomorrow (May 29). Two Great Dane women will close out the regionals on Saturday (May 30).
