BOSTON - After the first week of competition, two members of the UAlbany softball program were honored by the America East, announced Tuesday.
A native of East Brunswick, New Jersey,
Mary Kate Murray was named the America East Player of the Week. She opened her junior season with two home runs in four games. Totaling four hits, three of them were multi-base, Murray added a double and a single for a 1.00 slugging percentage on the weekend.
Freshman
Katie Parisi began her collegiate career leading the team with a .500 batting average. Tallying seven hits throughout the weekend, her first collegiate at bat resulted in a triple. After the triple, she added three doubles and three singles and scored four runs. For her efforts, the Colonie, New York native was named the America East Rookie of the Week.
Murray's Player of the Week nod is the first of her career. These two awards are the first of the season for UAlbany softball.
The Great Danes will return to action with five contests in Madeira Beach, Florida (Feb. 27-Mar. 1) after a weekend off.
