BOSTON - The University at Albany track and field programs earned two America East weekly awards, announced Tuesday.
Fifth year
Adaliz Hunt and sophomore
Tooni Ogunyeye were the only two Great Danes to compete last week and both were honored as the Track Athlete of the Week.
Hunt competed in the 60m dash at the Crimson Open and finished first in both the prelims and the finals. Her final 7.35 run broke the UAlbany program record previously broken by
Dominique Clarke (7.38) in 2023. Hunt is now first in both the America East and the Northeast.
Tooni Ogunyeye finished with a season-best in the 60m dash at the Crimson Open. Improving from fourth in the prelims, he finished second in the finals in 6.72. Ogunyeye is now ranked first in the America East and third in the Northeast.
Hunt's award is her second of the season and the women's team's third overall. Ogunyeye's award is his first of the season and the men's team's sixth of the season.
Both track and field programs will return to action at the America East Indoor Championship on February 20-21.
