La Mons Named CAA Special Teams Player of the Week

RICHMOND - University at Albany junior running back Rahshan La Mons has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Football Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the Great Danes' 28-3 Homecoming victory over Delaware State.

La Mons set the tone on special teams in front of a sold-out crowd of 8,500 at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium, returning three punts for 104 yards (34.7 avg) and racking up 156 total all-purpose yards. Two of his electric returns directly set up UAlbany touchdowns in short-field situations. His 25-yard return in the second quarter set up his own 2-yard touchdown run, and he added a season-long 69-yard return in the fourth quarter to set up a 12-yard touchdown pass.

In addition to his work on special teams, La Mons recorded two total touchdowns on the afternoon, scoring once on the ground and once through the air.

The award marks the first CAA weekly honor of La Mons' career and the second for the Great Danes in the 2026 season under head coach Tom Perkovich.

UAlbany enjoys a bye week before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, as the Great Danes travel to face CAA rival Stony Brook. Kickoff against the Seawolves is set for 2:30 p.m. at LaValle Stadium.
