- The Hawks added to the lead when quarterback Frankie Weaver connected with wide receiver Gavin Nelson for a 46-yard touchdown pass, making it 14-0 with 4:43 left in the first.
- Facing a fourth and seven, UAlbany lined up to punt the ball away but instead snapped the ball directly to defensive lineman Christian Santiago, who took the ball and ran for the first down to keep the drive going.
- The fake punt led to the Great Danes' first points of the day, when Joey Koch capped off the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run to cut the lead in half, 14-7, with 12:52 remaining in the half.
- Monmouth answered back less than two minutes later when wide receiver Tra Neal hauled in a 60-yard touchdown pass from Weaver to push the lead to 21-7.
- With less than two minutes left in the half, Colón threw a pass that was intercepted in the end zone by Monmouth's Jaeden Jones, killing the UAlbany drive.

- Rahshan La Mons got the Great Danes back within a score when he found the end zone on a two-yard rush with 5:06 left in the game. The PAT was no good, and the score sat at 28-20.
