ALBANY, N.Y. – The premiere Capital Region men's basketball series is set to continue for the next four years. The University at Albany and Siena University have announced a new Albany Cup contract through 2028.
 
"We are thrilled to be continuing the series for the next four years," said UAlbany men's basketball head coach Dwayne Killings. "College basketball is all about rivalries and there is no better sporting event in the Capital Region than the Albany Cup. This year we have the opportunity to defend the trophy at MVP Arena and look forward to seeing a sea of Purple in the stands cheering us on."

The new Albany Cup agreement features a four-year, true home-and-home series. Siena will host the crosstown showdown in both 2025 and 2027 at MVP Arena, with the series shifting to UAlbany for 2026 and 2028 at Broadview Center. The Albany Cup continues with Siena hosting the next installment on Friday, Nov. 21 at MVP Arena. Single game tickets to this year's Albany Cup will go on sale at a later date.

Since the Great Danes moved to the Division I level ahead of the 1999-00 season, UAlbany and Siena have battled for the Albany Cup 20 times with the Saints holding an 11-9 edge. The Great Danes have dominated the series in recent years, winning seven of the last nine matchups, including both games contested in Broadview Center. Overall, the crosstown rivals have met 57 times dating back to 1940, with Siena harboring a 31-26 advantage.

Season Tickets for the 2025-26 UAlbany men's basketball slate are going on sale the week of August 25.
