Volleyball Named Team Academic

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University at Albany women's volleyball team has earned Team Academic honors from the American Volleyball Coaches' Association, announced Monday.

"Excellent work by the team in the classroom this past year," said head coach Josh Pickard. "We had one of the highest GPAs in the department for both the fall and spring semesters and that is all due to our players and academic staff working hard both on the court and in the classroom. I'm extremely proud of their dedication to their academics as well as being a great team."

For nine straight seasons, UAlbany volleyball has earned the Team Academic award from the AVCA. The team won its first Team Academic award following the 2007 season.

More than 1,450 teams earned academic recognition for the 2024 season, including 234 Division I programs.

Established during the 1992-93 academic year, the AVCA Team Academic award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.10 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
