SHORT STORY: The Great Danes saw hits from eight different student-athletes during the second day of competition at the Make It Happen Games in Madeira Beach, Florida.

GAME ONE
SCORE: Butler 8, UAlbany 2
KEY STATS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The UAlbany defense left two on base as Hayley Wieczerzak tabbed the final out of the first with a strikeout.
- Wieczerzak added a strikeout in both the second and third but Butler scored its first run in the top of the third.
- The Great Danes answered with two runs and an RBI in the bottom of the third.
- Ava Beal pinch ran for Sara Anderson after she hit a single to third base.
- Christie Collins added a bunted single and Taylor Quinn drove in Beal for the first UAlbany run of the game.
- Deanna Grahek added a single in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Bulldogs took an 8-1 lead in the top of the fifth.
- Sara Scozzari opened the bottom of the fifth with a single to right center. Collins and Quinn advanced Scozzari to third during their respective at bats.
- Caitlyn Frederick sent the ball deep into the infield to bring Scozzari home.
- Each team left runners on base throughout the sixth and seventh innings but Butler was able to hold on to their six-run lead and take the win, 8-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Although each team put a runner on base in the first and top of the second, Butler tabbed the first hit of the contest in the bottom of the second.
- Ava Beal opened the third inning with a single through the left side.
- The Bulldogs put an unearned run on the board to score first.
- Running for Victoria Vilarchao, freshman Kaitlyn Parisi scored what proved to be the lone UAlbany run giving Sara Anderson an RBI on a single to right field.
- Butler put a runner on base in the bottom of the fourth but the Great Dane defense closed the inning with a double play at first and second base.
- Beal once again started an inning with a single in the top of the fifth. Caitlyn Frederick put a second runner on base with a bunted single but UAlbany was unable to take advantage.
- The Bulldogs gained a two-run lead in the bottom of the fifth.
- Vilarchao and Beal each added a single in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively, but it was not enough and Butler earned the 3-1 win.
NEXT: The Great Danes will wrap up the Make It Happen Games against Bethune-Cookman tomorrow (Sunday, Mar. 2).
