SHORT STORY: The Great Danes notched an early lead before Kristina Langdon hit a walk-off single to drive in the game-winning run against the Wildcats, Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UAlbany went up by two in the first inning.
  • Caitlyn Frederick started with a bunted single on the first pitch. After advancing to third, she scored for the first run.
  • Pinch-running for redshirt-senior Victoria Vilarchao, Jenny Nardelli scored from second base to give Sara Anderson an RBI single.
  • After a scoreless second inning, the Great Danes added a run in the bottom of the third.
  • Mary Kate Murray hit a double to right center to bring Deanna Grahek in from first base for an RBI.
  • The Wildcats made it a one-run game with two runs scored in the top of the fourth.
  • UAlbany answered with a fourth run before the fourth inning finished.
  • Pinch-running for Kristina Langdon, Christie Collins made her way around the bases before scoring on a wild pitch.
  • Freshman Hailey Errichiello took over in the circle at the top of the fifth.
  • In the sixth inning, BCU scored on a sac fly.
  • Starting pitcher Kate Powers returned to finish the game in the top of the seventh.
  • The Wildcats' Velazquez scored from second base during an outfield single to tie the score at four in the top of the seventh.
  • UAlbany caught the BCU runner stealing to end the inning with no runners on base but was unable to take a lead in the bottom of the seventh and the Great Danes headed into an extra inning.
  • With two runners on, Powers struck out what would prove to be the final Bethune-Cookman batter.
  • Placed on second, Ava Beal advanced to third during a sacrifice bunt from Anderson. 
  • Langdon followed up with a single to right field to drive in Beal and win the game, 5-4.
 
NEXT: The Great Danes will head to Washington DC to compete in a GWU tournament (Mar. 8-9).
