ALBANY, N.Y. - The UAlbany field hockey team is set to compete in a semifinal matchup to continue the 2025 America East Championship Tournament.
New this year, the America East Field Hockey Tournament will be contested at the higher seed for each round. The first and second seed received a bye for the quarterfinal round and will host a semifinal. UAlbany, the third seed, will travel to New Hampshire, the second seed, for a semifinal game.

CONFERENCE ACTION REVIEW
- The Great Danes went 3-2 in conference play with wins over UMass Lowell, Bryant, and Maine and a loss to New Hampshire and Vermont.
- In the five league games, sophomore Tessa Overgoor leads the team with three goals and three student-athletes follow with two goals each - junior Pilar Lorenzini, junior Emma Staron, and freshman Jette Kurz.
- Freshman Lillian Willis and redshirt-senior Jenna Zunic have earned a team-high two assists in conference play. Senior Sophia Schoonmaker and junior Mara Küskes have each added one.
LEAGUE TOURNAMENT RECAP
- In the first game of the America East Championship Tournament, the Great Danes defeated sixth-seeded Bryant, 6-1.
- After holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, the scoring blossomed for UAlbany with five goals in the second half. Bryant got the last say with the final goal of the contest.
- Freshman Jette Kurz scored a career-high four goals, including two unassisted goals.
- Junior Emma Staron and sophomore Tessa Overgoor added a goal each.
- Overgoor, junior Mara Küskes, senior Sophia Schoonmaker, and redshirt-senior Jenna Zunic each tallied an assist.
GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany finished the regular season with 11 wins and six losses.
- In addition to their two conference losses, the Great Danes have fallen to three nationally ranked teams - #9 Liberty, #12 UMass, and #16 Yale - and Columbia.
- UAlbany has earned five shutouts in 2025 - New Haven, Longwood, Maine, Colgate, and Bryant.
- Junior Pilar Lorenzini leads the team with 12 goals and one assist for 25 points. Half of Lorenzini's goals come from the first three games of the season.
- Sophomore Tessa Overgoor follows with eight goals and 19 points earned throughout the season. She was a major piece of the late-game comeback over UMass Lowell scoring the game-tying and game-winning goal in overtime for a career-high two goals in a single game.
- Freshman Jette Kurz is tied with Overgoor with eight goals, four of which she scored in the quarterfinal matchup against Bryant.
- Junior Mara Küskes has 18 points from five goals and eight assists. Küskes has earned at least one point for her team in over half of the Great Danes' contests.
- Graduate student Olivia Bell holds a team-high nine assists, six of which came in the first three games of the season.
- Fifth year Emma Peeters has been solid in goal with 73 saves for a .777 save percentage and a 1.25 goals against average.

ABOUT #2 NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Wildcats finished the regular season 10-6 with a 4-1 conference record.
- Their first win came three games into the season against Northeastern. They opened the season with two top ranked teams, #11 UConn and #9 Saint Joseph's, and Miami (Ohio).
- New Hampshire opened the conference season with an even four wins and four losses but fell to Vermont to go 0-1 in league action.
- Since the October 3 contest against the Catamounts, UNH has lost just one contest, to Boston College, to close out the regular season with a 6-1 run.
- Nicole Poulakis leads the team, and the conference, with 48 points and 20 goals.
- Kathelijne Knuttle tops the team, and the conference, with 11 assists and four game-winning goals.
- Together, Poulakis and Knuttle own 85 points from 33 goals and 19 assists.
- Faye Meijer (7-6-20), Tasmin Cookman (4-8-16), and Addison Macneil (3-9-15) have all significantly contributed to the New Hampshire offensive.
- Abby Johnson has started and played 15 of the Wildcats' 16 games in 2025. She holds a 2.72 GAA and a .702 save percentage with 92 saves.
SERIES AGAINST THE WILDCATS
- The Great Danes lead the all-time series, 20-14.
- Earlier this season, New Hampshire beat UAlbany for the first time since 2019 (six consecutive wins for UAlbany).
- During the 2024 season, the Great Danes went undefeated in conference play in the regular-season, including a 4-3 overtime win against the Wildcats.
- Before October, the Wildcats last beat UAlbany during the 2019 season in double overtime.
