ALBANY, N.Y. – Ivar Gissurarson of UAlbany men's soccer was named America East Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

A senior from Reykjavík, Iceland, Gissurarson played a key role in the Great Danes' 3-1 road Victory over New Hampshire on Saturday, October 4. He scored twice in the match, including the game-winning goal, leading UAlbany to its first America East win of the season.
Gissurarson's performance marked his first multi-goal game of the year and the third of his UAlbany career. He currently leads the Great Danes with nine points fro four goals and one assist. His efforts helped UAlbany hand New Hampshire just its second home loss of the season while improving to 1-0-1 in conference play.
Gissurarson's award is one of three weekly honors given out by the America East Conference. This is his first weekly award of the 2025 season.
UAlbany (3-4-3, 1-0-1 AE) will be back on the road on Friday, October 10 at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield, R.I. where they'll face No. 5 Bryant with kickoff set for 3:00 PM.
