UAlbany women’s volleyball enters the weekend at 5-7 overall after testing itself against a challenging nonconference schedule that included tournaments at Toledo, Boston College, and Texas Tech. The Great Danes are led by graduate outside hitter Shynelle Woroniuk, who paces the offense, while redshirt-junior libero Brooke Malek and middle blocker Gabriella Karman provide defensive stability. UAlbany has picked up two five-set wins already this season and continues to sharpen its play heading into America East competition.
Their next opponent, Binghamton, has opened the year strong with a balanced attack and one of the top defensive units in the conference. The Bearcats are looking to build on their success from last fall, when hosted the America East Championship tournament on their home court.
UAlbany leads the all-time series against Binghamton, 29-13. The Great Danes most recently defeated the Bearcats in the 2024 America East semifinals, a four-set win in Vestal that advanced UAlbany to the title match.
