SHORT STORY: The Great Danes averaged a goal a quarter on their way to a shutout victory over Colgate, Sunday afternoon.
COACH PHIL SYKES: "Colgate is getting better and better every year. You can't relax against anybody - there's been tons of upsets this year. You have to be on your game. I was proud of how our girls played today - we have good momentum going into next week."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first quarter, Indy van Ek put the Great Danes on the board about three minutes into the second. Collecting a pass from Tessa Overgoor, van Ek one-tapped the ball into the circle and shot it without a defender anywhere near her.
- Less than four minutes later, UAlbany earned a corner - which led to the team's second goal. With a stick-stop from Olivia Bell, Mara Küskes took the ball and passed it to Pilar Lorenzini who took the shot from an angle for the goal.
- After the halfway mark, the Great Danes earned a penalty stroke attempt that turned into a goal for Küskes with 8:54 on the clock.
- Shortly after two penalty corners early in the fourth quarter, Bell inserted the ball into the circle from the corner of the field. Jette Kurz collected the ball right in front of the goalie and with her back to the net, shot the ball backwards for what proved to be the final goal of the game.
- Senior goalie Nina Faupel entered the game with over nine minutes left and held her own under fire. The Raiders tallied seven shots, with two penalty corners, in their final attempts to score a goal.
NEXT: The Great Danes will head on the road to face Bryant (Oct. 10) before returning home to host Northeastern (Oct. 12).
