BOSTON, Mass. – UAlbany volleyball's Shynelle Woroniuk was named the America East Player of the Week, and Maria Olga Siapani was named Setter of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Woroniuk powered the Great Danes to a 2-0 week with 36 kills across eight sets, averaging 4.50 per set on .292 hitting. The outside hitter added 26 digs and three blocks, including 21 kills at Colgate and 15 more at UMBC. She currently leads the America East in kills per set (3.97) and ranks second in total kills (282).
Siapani commanded the offense with 82 assists over eight sets, averaging 10.25 per set, while also adding nine kills, 23 digs, and eight total blocks. The sophomore setter leads the conference in assists per set (8.78) and ranks eighth in digs per set at 2.77.
The Great Danes are 3-2 in conference play going into a big week against New Hampshire and Bryant at home.
