SHORT STORY: The UAlbany volleyball team picked up an impressive non-conference road win on Tuesday afternoon to defeat Colgate 3-1 at Cotterell Court.

COACH JOSH PICKARD: "Great effort by the team this morning. Playing in front of a packed crowd of elementary students was a different atmosphere for sure and the team showed up. We executed at a high level the whole time and I'm proud of the way everyone stepped up."

KEY STATS

• Graduate outside hitter Shynelle Woroniuk led UAlbany with 21 kills on .320 hitting, adding 11 digs and 1 ace.

• Redshirt-junior middle blocker Gabriella Karman hit .588 with 11 kills, 4 blocks, and 3 aces.

• Senior outside hitter Anna Myhal added 10 kills on .241 hitting with 17 digs and 2 aces.

• Senior middle blocker Tori Wilson recorded 8 kills on .583 hitting and 1 block assist.

• Graduate setter Maria Olga Siapani posted 46 assists, 10 digs, and 1 ace while hitting .556.

• Sophomore defensive specialist Kasia Barletta anchored the back row with 23 digs and 3 aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Colgate edged out the first set 25-23 despite early momentum from UAlbany's front line. 

• Woroniuk tallied seven kills, and Karman hit .400 in the frame, but a late Raider run sealed the opener.

• The Great Danes answered in set two, fueled by strong serving from Karman and Myhal. 

• Siapani distributed 12 assists in the frame as UAlbany hit .243 and evened the match with a 25-22 win.

• UAlbany took full control in the third, dominating from the service line with aces from Barletta and Karman during a decisive 10-1 run. 

• The Great Danes hit .395 and held Colgate to just eight kills in the 25-14 victory.

• The Purple and Gold closed the door with another commanding set, hitting .391 behind Wilson and Woroniuk at the net. 

• Siapani's precise setting and Barletta's defensive consistency helped UAlbany finish the match 25-12 to secure the four-set win.
