How it Happened:
- After exchanging three-pointers, Vermont was able to take a 14-6 advantage and force a UAlbany timeout three minutes into the game. Marcus Filien and Tyler Bertram were the first to score for the Great Danes.
- By the U12 media timeout, Vermont's lead grew to 13 points, 25-12. The Catamounts began the game shooting 11-12 from the field, going a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc.
- The Great Danes pulled back to within five points with 8:37 remaining after back-to-back plays that re-energized the crowd. Muneer Newton threw down a dunk after taking in a rebound and Amar'e Marshall drew a foul after hitting a bucket in the lane for a three-point play.
- After another three from Bertram, UAlbany pulled within two points, 30-28, with just over seven minutes remaining. However, Vermont would use a 9-0 run to push the lead back to double digits.
- Back-to-back threes from Bertram and Jack Margoupis brought the game back to one possession, 41-38, with 2:12 on the clock.
- Vermont's Fiorillo was able to hit a layup at the buzzer, increasing the Vermont lead to 47-41 at the half. UAlbany shot 45.5% (15-33) from the field and 50% (8-16) from three in the first half. Vermont shot 61.3% (19-31) from the field and 42.9% (6-14) from deep. Rebounds stayed even, with Vermont having a slight 14-13 edge at the break.
- Bertram led all scorers in the first half with 20 points, going a perfect 6-6 from downtown.
- Vermont increased its lead by one point to start the second half, outscoring UAlbany 7-6. The Great Danes started the second frame going 2-3 from the field, but committed four turnovers to Vermont's one.
- The Great Danes used a 12-5 run to claw back withing five points, 63-59, midway through the second half.
- After bringing it back within two, Vermont went on another run, this one 9-0, to once again push the lead back to double digits with under eight minutes remaining.
- With 4:20 on the clock, the Catamounts found themselves up 13 points, 82-69.
- UAlbany shot 48.3% (14-29) from the field and 33.3% (3-9) from three in the second half. Vermont shot 48.1% (13-27) from the field and went 2-10 from three.
