Short Story: UAlbany wins gold in the men's and women's long jumps on the first day of the 2024 America East Indoor Championships.
 
Track Events

• Toni Galloway qualified first overall in the women's 60m hurdles in a personal-best 8.53; Olivia Nelson Chevry qualified third in a personal-best 8.72, winning her heat by seven one-thousandths of a second.  Kate Del Gandio qualified in fourth position in a personal-best 8.58, Donnell Hartley in sixth in a personal-best 8.73, and Brinesha Derrick-Bain in eighth in 8.78.
• Antwone Messado qualified in seventh position in the men's 60m hurdles in 8.54; Kendall Mariacher qualified eighth in 8.71.
• Dominique Clarke qualified first overall in the women's 60m in 7.44; Shenequa Vassell qualified third in a personal-best 7.63, Shantae Pryce qualified fifth in 7.68, and Jazmen Newberry qualified seventh in 7.69.
• Shak Williams qualified first overall in the men's 60m in 6.69, followed by Shavar Staats Jr. in second in 6.73, and Lucas Casab in third in 6.88.
• Thalia Benoit qualified eighth in the women's 400m in a personal-best 58.42.
• Derrick-Bain qualified fifth in the women's 500m in 1:17.12.
• Quincy Chery qualified third in the men's 500m in a personal-best 1:04.79.
• Newberry qualified second in the women's 200m in 24.33; Clarke qualified fourth in 24.47, Vassell qualified fifth in a personal-best 24.86, and Pryce qualified sixth in a personal-best 24.87.
• Staats Jr. qualified first in the men's 200m in a personal-best 21.61; Williams qualified third in an indoor-best 21.78.
• The men's distance medley relay of Chris Bertola (3:04.90), Giovanni Gonzalez (49.71), Steve Hines (1:55.01), and Isaac Graber (4:19.66) placed fifth in 10:09.22.

Field Events

• Kiki Nosile placed second in the women's weight throw in a personal-best 62-00.00; Steph Green placed fourth in 56-06.00.
• Kate Del Gandio moves into eighth place in program history in the women's 60m hurdles.
• Gabe Snyder placed sixth in the men's pole vault, clearing 13-09.25.
• Efe Omokeni won the women's long jump in 18-09.75; Rebeca Valerie Barrientos Alpha placed second in 18-00.50, matching her indoor best.
• Eva Edery placed seventh in the women's pole vault, clearing a personal-best 11-03-75.
• Louis Gordon won the men's long jump in an indoor-best 24-10.00; Marcus McFadden placed second in a personal-best 23-11.75, and Christian Quinn placed third in 23-08.75, tying his personal best.
• Melissa Gueye placed sixth in the women's pentathlon, scoring a personal-best 3,115 points, winning the high jump and long jump and setting best marks in the shot put and the long jump.

Meet Notes

• Kiki Nosile moves into sixth place in program history in the women's weight throw, and becomes the sixth woman to break 62' in the event.
• Eva Edery moves into a three-way tie for fourth place in program history in the women's indoor pole vault, and is the sixth woman to clear 11' indoors.
• Toni Galloway moves into a tie for seventh place in program history in the women's 60m hurdles.
• Efe Omokeni wins her third America East event title, and has won each of the last three America East long jump titles since the 2023 indoor season.
• Louis Gordon wins his fifth America East event title, and his third-straight long jump title after sweeping the event indoors and outdoors in 2023. Gordon also breaks his own indoor program record of 24-09.25.
• Marcus McFadden moves into a tie for seventh place in program history in the men's indoor long jump.
