Key Stats
Head Coach Katie Thomson: "It took us too long to get going and in a flow, which was too late against a team like Fairfield, which plays with a lot of heart and hustle. We are going to keep working, learning, and moving forward. We are really proud of a handful of players who provided sparks today, and we will keep building off of that energy."

How it Happened
- After opening their season against two ranked opponents, the University at Albany women's lacrosse program hit the road for a second-straight game on Saturday to visit the five-time defending MAAC champion Fairfield Stags. Fairfield had split its first two games of the season, falling by one to Holy Cross and upsetting #24 UConn by two.
- Fairfield scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game to take an early lead. Freshman Paisley Cook set up Ava Poupard with 10:41 on the clock for the Great Danes' first goal.
- Fairfield responded 80 seconds later to reclaim their three-goal lead, but Katie Pascale and Cook scored back-to-back just 22 seconds apart to tie the game at three with 8:48 to go in the quarter.
- Pascale won the ensuing draw control following her first goal, giving her 284 for her career and tying the program record originally set in 2011 by Nikki Branchini. With her second draw win, following Cook's next goal, Pascale claimed sole possession of the program record, her third career record in a UAlbany uniform. By the end of the game, she had 289 draws in her career.
- With 5:24 on the clock, Fairfield retook the lead, only for Courtney Rowe to score an equalizer two minutes later, unassisted. The Stags ended the first quarter with their fifth goal of the game, kicking off a 3-0 run lasting deep into the second quarter.
- Kloey Roos scored her first goal of the season with 2:51 remaining before the break to briefly interrupt the Stags' scoring run, but the Great Danes surrendered two more goals in the final two minutes of the half to trail 9-5 at halftime. Fairfield next scored the first five goals of the third quarter to take a commanding 14-5 lead.
- Pascale set up Bryar Hogg to end Fairfield's long run and UAlbany's long scoring drought that had lasted more than 18 minutes of game time. Hogg's goal kicked off a three-goal run for the Great Danes to close within six with just under 11 minutes remaining. Fairfield scored once more, but Pascale scored the final two goals of the game, her last coming with 3:57 on the clock.
- Fairfield held on to win by five, 15-10, despite getting outscored 5-1 in the final frame. The Stags took 13 more shots than the Great Danes, but UAlbany put 16 of 19 on target.
Next: UAlbany hosts Brown on February 20.
