Key Stats Head Coach Katie Thomson: "We're working with this new group and putting all the pieces together.  We struggled with valuing the ball today, and that's something we really need to clean up.  But we will, and we know we have the pieces here.  We'll figure it, we know we will.  We believe that.  We just have to keep fighting and giving our full effort for those 60 minutes."

How it Happened
  • The University at Albany women's lacrosse team made a quick stop at home to host #23 Brown at John Fallon Field before returning to the road for another showdown against a top-five team in #3 James Madison this weekend.  The Bears were the Great Danes' third top-25 opponent in their first four games of the 2024 season.
  • Brown took the lead early, scoring in the first 90 seconds and kicking off a run of three unanswered goals before Katie Pascale scored, unassisted to put UAlbany on the board for the first time with 6:11 remaining in the first quarter.  Brown scored the next two, before Pascale scored again, this time on a free-position attempt, with 2:19 on the clock.
  • Pascale would be held in check for the remainder of the game by the Bears' defense, but Kloey Roos closed the Great Danes' gap to two after more than 10 minutes of scoreless action with 6:24 remaining in the second quarter.  Brown scored each of the next two, just over 30 seconds apart, to take a 7-3 lead, before Roos scored with just under 90 seconds remaining to close out the first half.
  • Brown scored quickly in the second, but Courtney Rowe scored back-to-back goals with 12:06 and 9:38 remaining in the third to bring UAlbany back within two, 8-6.  The Bears, however, regrouped and scored the next three goals to take an 11-6 lead.
  • Before the Bears scored their 11th goal, they were turned away on back-to-back attempts on cage by UAlbany goalkeeper Grace Cincebox, who made two saves in four seconds against the Brown offense.
  • Allie Maloney, on a free-position, scored her first goal of the season with just 45 seconds remaining in the quarter to close within four, but Brown went right back up by five less than 40 seconds into the fourth.  Emma Weaver found the back of the net one minute later, leading into Rowe's third of the game with 8:57 on the clock to bring the score to 12-9 in favor of the Bears.
  • Brown ended UAlbany's mini-run with a goal with 7:54 on the clock.  Rowe scored her fourth and final goal, on a free-position attempt, with 4:20 remaining, but Brown scored one final time for good measure to clinch the game 14-10.
  • Rowe matched her career-high with four goals, and added one assist for a career-high five points.  Cincebox finished with 12 saves, marking her third time in four games this season in double-digits.  Pascale, who was held scoreless after the first quarter, impacted the game in other ways, finishing with three ground balls, two draws, and one caused turnover.
Next: UAlbany visits #3 James Madison on February 25.
