SHORT STORY: The Great Danes scored one goal in each of the first three quarters on their way to a 3-0 shutout victory over league-opponent, Bryant, Friday afternoon.

COACH PHIL SYKES: "Good effort today. Every conference game is a battle - you want to get that 'W' and stay in a good position to earn a spot in the conference tournament and position yourself as well as you can. So, I'm very proud of our girls today - they played a solid game. We are hoping to keep that good energy going into Sunday's game [at Lehigh]."

KEY STATS
  • Four different Great Danes contributed to the score with a goal or an assist.
  • Sophomore Mara Küskes led with one goal and one assist.
  • Graduate student Charlotte Triggs scored what proved to be the game-winning goal.
  • Senior Alison Smisdom added one goal while junior Sophia Schoonmaker added an assist.
  • Senior goalkeeper Lara Behn totaled three saves to tie her season-high in games won.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Charlotte Triggs opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first quarter.
  • Towards the end of the quarter, the Great Danes earned two penalty corners in a row. During the second, Triggs gathered a rebound and sent the ball into the net for her third goal of the season.
  • Alison Smisdom extended UAlbany's lead in the second quarter with the second goal of the game.
  • Scored shortly after a penalty corner, Smisdom passed the ball to Küskes who dribbled the ball up the midfield and to the circle. Just outside the circle, Küskes tapped the ball to Smisdom before the senior made the goal-scoring shot.
  • The lone goal of the third quarter, the Great Danes' Küskes scored within five minutes of the second half.
  • Senior Floor de Ruiter brought the ball up the field for over 30 yards and passed it to Sophia Schoonmaker. Schoonmaker proceeded to dodge the goalie and get the ball to Küskes, who was able to take her time for the shot and get the ball into the net.

NEXT: The Great Danes will close the week on the road at Lehigh with a 1 pm game on Sunday (Oct. 13).
