KEY STATS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half, UAlbany held an advantage in shots, 5-1.
- Less than two minutes into the second half, the Great Danes earned a penalty corner that would end with a goal scored.
- Receiving the insert from Lotje Ligthart, Alison Smisdom sent the ball past the goalie and into the corner of the net from an angle.
- As the third quarter was coming to a close, Lehigh tied the score at one with less than two minutes remaining on the clock.
- In 14 minutes of action in the fourth, the Great Danes were advancing on the Mountain Hawk defense with four shots and two penalty corners.
- Advancing up the field after an out-of-bounds ball, UAlbany's Blanca Orsola, Sophia Schoonmaker, and freshman Eva Jenniskens combined for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
- Orsola dribbled nearly 15 yards with the ball before passing it to Jenniskens to get around a defender. Jenniskens quickly sent the ball back to Orsola, who dribbled into the circle and passed the ball to Schoonmaker for a possible tip. Collecting the ball and taking her time, Schoonmaker remained behind the goalie to send the ball into the goal for a goal with just 56 seconds on the fourth-quarter clock.
- The Mountain Hawks emptied the net but it was enough to earn a shot. The Great Danes defense held off and won the game, 2-1.
