SHORT STORY: The Great Danes gained an early lead against the Golden Bears before taking an overtime win, Friday afternoon.

COACH PHIL SYKES: "Very big win today … to start with Cal in conference play [can be difficult]. They had four to five grad transfers in the off-season and they returned a very experienced team so I was a bit nervous coming into this game because I know they are a high quality [team]. Our girls … we are constantly trying to grow and evolve our team defense and our discipline. Not getting cards was one of our big objectives for today and I think we accomplished it. To come out with a [win] was our main priority but to keep growing and getting better was major."
