Volleyball Named Team Academic

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University at Albany women's volleyball team has earned Team Academic honors from the United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches' Association, announced Thursday.

"I am very proud of the team and their hard work on the court and in the classroom," said head coach Josh Pickard. "The dedication they show in the classroom with the great demands on their time shows how truly dedicated they are."

For seven straight seasons, UAlbany volleyball has earned the Team Academic award from the USMC/AVCA. The team won its first Team Academic award following the 2007 season.

A total of 1,332 teams earned academic recognition for the 2022 season, including 203 Division I programs.

Established during the 1992-93 academic year, the USMC/AVCA Team Academic award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.10 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
