GENEVA, N.Y. - The UAlbany field hockey team has placed nine student-athletes on the 2022 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
The NFHCA National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach. The current GPA mark of 3.5 is an increase from the previous seasons' 3.3 requirement.
Junior
Charlotte Triggs leads the pack with her third-consecutive placement while junior newcomer
Chiara Calicchia made her way to the academic squad for the first time.
Returning sophomores
Lara Behn,
Floor de Ruiter,
Lauren Willis, and
Julianne Zunic kept up their academic prowess to earn their second-straight National Academic Squad nod.
Rounding out the first-time honorees are three additional members of the sophomore class -
Isabella Del Vecchio,
Alison Smisdom, and
Rylee Zunic.
UAlbany's nine student-athletes serve as just a fraction of this year's 965 student-athletes selected from the 77 Division I institutions recognized.
